We all remember McKayla Maroney from the London 2012 olympics – she was part of the USA’s Fierce Five who absolutely smashed the gymnastics that year. McKayla herself even came home with a gold and silver medal from her events.
She arguably became more famous for her hilarious ‘disappointed’ face when she was awarded her silver medal on the podium which quickly became an internet sensation.
Unfortunately, after her landslide of victories in 2012, McKayla formerly retired from her gymnast career at the young age of 20 due to several injuries and painful surgeries – but we don’t think it’s the last we’ll see of her yet.
In fact, the former Olympian will be in the spotlight even more if her new career move lifts off because she has launched a music career with her first single due to come out next month.
That’s right – McKayla will be in a whole new industry but with her tenacity and sheer determination from her gymnastic days, we can only imagine that she will thrive in the Hollywood environment.
Well, she certainly looks a lot happier than when she was on that podium, that’s for sure…;
