An asteroid once destroyed a Siberia Forest without ever hitting the ground.

The event is known as the “Tunguska Impact.” It occurred in 1908 in Siberia when an asteroid entered the Earth’s atmosphere. The asteroid was travelling at 33,500 mph and exploded 28,000 feet above the ground.

The energy from the explosion was the equivalent of 185 Hiroshima bombs and resulted in the destruction of 800 square miles of Siberian Forest.
